Extend your time in Budapest with a trip to the Transylvania region of Romania - infamous for the legend of Dracula.  Your time here includes a visit to Bran Castle / Vlad the Impaler, and also the house in Sighisoara (with its medieval walled citadel) where Vlad was born.

Day 1
  Bucharest to Sibiu

Depart Bucharest with your driver/guide and visit first the Cozia Monastery, built by Mircea the Old, grandfather of Vlad the Impaler [Dracula]. Arrive in Sibiu where you enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town.Overnight at the impressive Imparatul Romanilor hotel in the Old Town.
Day 2
  Sibiu - Sighisoara

Travel to Biertan to visit the fortified Saxon church, something totally unique to Transylvania. Then at the nearby village of Malancrav you'll lunch in the home of a farming family on flavoursome local dishes.
Afterwards visit a farm and organic orchard.  Arrive in Sighisoara late afternoon at your traditional hotel in the centre of this amazing medieval walled citadel. Tonight is free to explore the old town at your
leisure and perhaps dine [optional] in the very house where Vlad the Impaler was born! Overnight at the historic Sighisoara Hotel or Casa Wagner Hotel. (B, L)

Day 3


Sighisoara - Brasov

This morning you will visit the Clock Tower Museum, Weapons Museum, the Torture Chamber, the Wooden Staircase and the Church on the Hill. Drive on to Viscri for a short visit to this quiet village to see the fortified church and the exterior of the simple cottage that Prince Charles restored and owns. Drive to Brasov for a late lunch [not included] followed by a walking tour of this 14th century city to include the
Black Church and the first Romanian school. Overnight at the traditional Bella Muzica Hotel or Casa Wagner Hotel.(B)

Day 4

  Brasov - Bucharest
This morning you take a short drive to Bran Castle, often referred to as 'Dracula's Castle'. Built in 1378 as a toll station it has a dramatic fairy tale appearance, but unconnected with Vlad Tepes (Dracula).  At the mountain resort of Sinaia visit the monastery and Peles Castle, summer residence of Romania's royal family. Late afternoon arrive in Bucharest where your tour services end.(B)
