Day 1
  Beijing arrival



Arrive Beijing and transfer by car to your hotel.  Overnight Beijing
   
Day 2
  Beijing
    Full day tour of the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the Summer Palace.  Overnight Beijing (B)
     

Day 3

  Beijing - Ulaanbaatar
   
You will be transferred to the station for your morning departure to Ulaanbaatar.  Border formalities for entry into Mongolia will be finalised on the train in the early hours of the following morning. Overnight on board. (B)
   

Day 4

  Ulaanbaatar
    Arrive mid-afternoon, meet our local representative and transfer by car to your hotel.  Overnight Ulaanbaatar.
     
Day 5
  Terelj National Park
   
This morning travel by car with guide to the Terelj to see Turtle Rock, visit a nomadic Mongolian family and enjoy lunch in a traditional ger camp. Free time to relax and enjoy the surroundings and
perhaps ride a horse or camel (extra cost).  Tonight you dine at the camp. Overnight ger camp.(B,L,D)
   

Day 6 - 7

  Ulaanbaatar to Irkutsk
                     
 
After breakfast, return via the Genghis Khan statue to Ulaanbaatar for a city tour and later free time to shop and explore before transferring to the station for your evening departure to Irkutsk. There is usually no dining car on this train. The following day you complete border formalities and cross into Russia. 2 nights on board.  (B)
     
Day 8
  Irkutsk
   
Early morning arrival in Irkutsk. Meet your local guide and drop your luggage at your hotel. Then enjoy a city tour to include the Polish Roman Catholic Cathedral, Kirov Square, Karl Marx St and Alexander III
monument. Overnight Irkutsk
     
Day 9
  Irkutsk
   
Full day tour to Listvyanka and Lake Baikal with a visit to the open-air Wooden Architecture Museum at Taltsy and the Museum of Lake Baikal. Visit the fish market at Listvyanka, enjoy a delicious lunch and
take a cable car ride for panoramic views of the lake. Later visit St. Nicholas church and see the sacred place of the Buryat people. Overnight Irkutsk.  (B, L)
     
Day 10 - 12
  Irkutsk - Moscow
   
Morning transfer to the station by car with guide assistance for your onward journey to Moscow. En-route, you'll pass through a number of large cities including Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg and Kazan. Take the time to meet your fellow passengers as you watch the changing landscape unfold. You can
purchase food from stalls during many scheduled stops. The train also has a dining car serving traditional dishes at reasonable prices. The dining car is also a great place to meet the locals. 3 nights on board. (B)
     
Day 13
  Moscow
   
Early morning arrival Moscow. You will be met and transferred by car to your central 4-star hotel. Drop your luggage then enjoy a city tour followed by a guided tour of the most spectacular stations of the Moscow metro system. Afternoon free. Overnight Moscow.
     
Day 14
  Moscow
   
Morning walking tour of the Kremlin grounds and one of the cathedrals before visiting the State Armoury Museum with its unique collection of crown jewels, costumes, carriages, Fabergé eggs and
more. Overnight Moscow.  (B)
     
Day 15
  Moscow - St. Petersburg
   
Free time before your car transfer to catch the high speed Sapsan train to St. Petersburg. On arrival transfer by car to your central 4-star hotel. Overnight St. Petersburg.  (B)
     
Day 16
  St. Petersburg
   
This morning, your city tour introduces you to the major landmarks of this beautiful northern city with a visit to Peter and Paul Fortress, the burial place of the Romanovs. This afternoon, your guide will
take you on a private tour of the world famous Hermitage Museum, housing one of the finest art collections in the world. Overnight St. Petersburg.  (B)
     
Day 17
  St. Petersburg
   
Today visit one of the tsars' summer palaces – Peterhof (Petrodvorets) commissioned by Peter the Great to rival Versailles, or Catherine's Palace at Pushkin, one of the finest examples of Russian Baroque architecture. Overnight St. Petersburg.  (B)

  St. Petersburg departure
