Jordan Tourism Increases in Popularity

March 2019 - Innovative Travel advises the resurgence of tourism in Egypt is creating a positive overflow effect onto tourism for Jordan. The ancient red rose city of Petra, lost to civilisation for hundreds of years and only rediscovered 200 years ago, is a unique draw card. Originally a 1st century Nabatean trading settlement, its spectacular tombs carved into red rock form a unique world heritage site, says Innovative Travel MD, Robyn Galloway.

With demand rapidly increasing, from Egypt and Jordan or Israel and Jordan combinations, this year it has become critical for Jordanian holidays to be booked much earlier. The Martian movie has also created a lot more interest in Wadi Rum tented camp stays. Once the domain of Lawrence of Arabia, this desert landscape provides the opportunity for camel rides, spectacular scenery and the opportunity to meet local Bedouin.

Jordan has more of a boutique tourism infrastructure, with daily limits on tourist numbers for Petra and Wadi Rum. For those who have Jordan on their bucket list, Galloway’s advice is to book now. View more information on Jordan holidays here.
