Departure times vary with the season, however it is always early in the morning as the best conditions for ballooning are in the calm of dawn.

Tours depart from the historic Antigua Boatsheds and travel a 2km return journey along the Avon River, which divides Hagley Park and the Botanical Gardens. The Park has been developed as an open range sanctuary for endangered animals, providing them with enclosures as close to their natural habitat as possible. Orana Wildlife Park specialises in getting visitors "up close and personal with the animals". Hand feed a Giraffe!, Meet White Rhinoceros in a face to face encounter, Watch a Cheeta sprint!, Pat a Llama. Observe New Zealand Kiwi, Tuatara and a range of endangered, endemic birds such as Kea, the only alpine parrot in the world. Stroll through the walk-through aviary whilst native birds fly past and listen to their calls. A farmyard area enables visitors to pet a range of domestic animals. Thrill seekers can participate in a unique experience called the Lion Encounter ride. Ride on board a specially designed feeding wagon with the Animal Keepers through the African Lion Reserve (Additional cost). Concession Pass available for 2 Adults and up to 3 Children)
