Mystical Oman
  Oman has long prospered on the trade routes which converged in Muscat.  Richly endowed with UNESCO listed forts and castles, the Sultanate Oman is also blessed with a stunning coastline.  Marvel at the contrasts this ancient civilisation has to offer and appreciate Oman's traditional hospitality. 
This itinerary is ideal to discover the best of Oman, combining a blend of spectacular landscapes, rich culture, heritage and the unique opportunity to witness marine turtles nesting.

Day 1 Muscat
          Arrive in Muscat and transfer to your selected hotel.  Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 2 Muscat 
  Depart for a morning tour of Muscat.   Muscat's beautiful and uniform architecture reflects the customs and tradition of the region with white domes and arabesque windows creating a beautiful and elegant environment.  With its natural harbour, Muscat means "Anchorage" and lies in a natural volcanic bowl.  Start your tour with a visit of the Grand Mosque, later visit Bait Al Zubair Museum to gain insights into the rich history and development of this Kingdom.  Drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the fish market and the colourful Muttrah Souk.  Photo stop at the magnificent Al Alam Palace, the official residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali.  Return to hotel for an afternoon at leisure. Day 3 Muscat – Jabrin - Hamra
  Depart for Jabrin, the finest of Oman's castles built in the late 17th century, which became a seat of Omani learning.  The castle displays the zenith of Omani ceiling painting and beautifully executed wood carvings.  Next stop is Wadi Nakher, located in the depth of Oman's deepest canyon.  Later visit the terrace farming village of Wadi Ghul before continuing to Jebel Shams, the highest peak of the Jebel Akhdar range. Admire the spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and then continue to the pretty oasis village of Misfah.  Dinner and overnight in a luxury tent camp overlooking the Valley of Hamra. (B,D)
Day 4 Hamra - Nizwa - Wahiba Sands
  Visit the Nizwa Fort with its large collection of traditional silver jewellery and the Nizwa Souk.  Then drive to the pretty village of Birkat Al Mauz and a walk through the lush green date plantations.  Continue via a beautiful winding road into Jerbel Al Akhda, the green jewel of the Al Hajjar mountain ranges - a truly unique spot in the Arabian Peninsula.  Continue to the Wahiba Sands, a vast mass of undulating red and white sand dunes.   The ever changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer's delight.  Dinner and overnight stay in a desert Bedouin Camp.  Experience an unforgettable night under the stars in the desert.  (B,D)
Day 5 Wahiba Sands - Ras Al Hadd (Turtle Beach)
  Drive across the dunes of the Wahiba Sands before continuing to the scenic Wadi Bank Khalid where you have time for a refreshing swim in the deep blue pools of water fringed by date palms.  Continue to Ras Al Hadd.  At night you will be guided down to the beach of Ras Al Jinz for an unforgettable evening.  See the giant sea turtles slowly make their way up the beach.  The beach is one of the largest turtle reserves in the world. NOTE: Turtles are in their natural habitat therefore sightings are not always possible.
Day 6 Ras Al Hadd - Sur - Muscat
  Drive back to Muscat via the picturesque fishing villages along the coast.  Stop in Sur with its ancient harbour housing some of the original Dhows that are still in use today. Continue to the beautiful Fins beach and the spectacular Bimah Sinkhole.  Arrive in Muscat late afternoon.  (B)
Day 7 Muscat
  Full day at leisure to further explore the sights and shops of Muscat. (B)
Option to extend your stay with a trip to Salalah. or to the Musandam Peninsula.
Day 8     Muscat departure
               After breakfast, transfer to the airport. (B)
