Day 2 Muscat exploration (100 km)
At 9.00 am you will have a briefing and delivery of 4WD. Muscat offers the visitor a unique opportunity to witness a modern commercial centre existing in harmony with its traditional culture. With its natural harbour, Muscat means "Anchorage" & lies in a natural volcanic bowl. We recommend a visit to the Grand Mosque (Ladies fully covered with scarf and shorts not allowed for men) (except  Friday) & the Bait Al Zubair Museum (Except Friday) for a brief introduction to Oman's history and development.  Drive along the waterfront Corniche visiting the Fish Market.
We also recommend viewing the magnificent Al Alam Palace, residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani & Jalal, and also a visit to the  colourful Muttrah Souq. Overnight stay in Muscat.
Day 3 Muscat - Nizwa (280 km)
We recommend an early start, proceeding north towards Al Awabi before turning towards Wadi Bani Auf. This stretch of graded road is very adventurous & for the physically fit only as it involves steep bends and bumpy roads. Visit the charming mountain village of Bilad Sayt with its beautiful landscapes. This 70 km stretch of road continues unto the village of Al Hamra famous for its date plantations.  Visit the ruined village at Tanuf before arriving in Nizwa.
Day 4 Nizwa exploration (335 km)
We suggest a visit the famous Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century, and its Souq renowned for its Friday cattle auction, intricately hand-carved "Khanjars"(daggers) & ornamental silver jewellery. Also worth a visit is Jabrin, the finest of Oman's Castles built in the late 17th century, and known for its Omani ceiling painting and woodcarvings. Next you could visit the pretty village of Misfah and then head for the terrace farming village of Wadi Ghul in Jebel Sharms. You could then drive to Wadi Nakher, and ascend Jebel Sharms (the highest peak in the Jebel Akhdar Range) for its spectacular view.  Overnight in Nizwa.
Day 5 Nizwa - Wahiba Sands (420 km)
Today we suggest you visit the Sinaw market before driving past Mudhaybi  and Al Qabil to Wadi Bani Khalid - one of the most beautiful wadis of Oman. Here you have the opportunity to swim or enjoy the surroundings, before continuing to the Wahiba Sands. Enjoy a night under the stars.  Dinner is included in your overnight stay.
Day 6 Wahiba Sands - Turtle Beach (250 km)
Proceed across the dunes back to the main road at Al Mintrib, and then continue on to Bilad Bani Bu Ali and along the coastline to Ras Al Jinz. Overnight stay.
Day 7 Turtle Beach - Sur - Muscat (300 km)
Today we recommend a visit the fish jetty and dhow factory, and the Sanseela Fort.  Then continue on to the ruins of Bibi Miriam's Tomb can be seen at  the village of Qalhat on coastal road to Muscat, and perhaps stop at Fins beach for a swim.  Continue to the Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater with blue green water at the bottom. Continue to Dibab and perhaps take an adventurous offroad track to visit the Wadi Arbayeen, with its date palms and deep pools of water. Proceed to Mazara before returning to Muscat.  Overnight stay.
