Coastal Plain |
| |
Depart Tel Aviv and drive along the coastal plain to Caesarea, capital of Judea under the Romans. Visit the excavations of the ancient city, the Roman theatre and aqueduct. Continue to Megiddo, identified as the site of Armageddon. Visit the archaeological excavations at Megiddo, including the well-preserved water supply system. Drive to Haifa to see the Persian Gardens at the Bahai Temple. From Haifa, drive to Acre to visit the ancient city and harbour.

Sea of Galilee and Golan Heights |

Start the day with a tour of Tiberias. Enjoy a boat ride in a traditional wooden sailing vessel. Explore the centre of Jesus’ ministry at Capernaum and see the remains of the synagogue where he preached. Onto the site of the miracle of the Fishes and Loaves at Tabgha, and visit the Church of Multiplication with its 4th century mosaic floor. Ascend the Mount of Beatitudes overlooking the Sea of Galilee, where the Sermon on the Mount took place. Drive to Caesarea of Phillipi at Banias Springs and then tour the Golan Heights to better understand the geopolitical issues affecting the region.

Drive to Nazareth via Cana of Galilee. Visit the Church of the Annunciation, St. Joseph’s Workshop and Mary’s Well. Continue onto Beit Shean, a newly excavated city, and visit the Roman theatre. Drive along the Jordan River to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem - Old city |

Today we shall visit the Old City of Jerusalem to include: Mount of Olives, Church of All Nations, Tomb of David at Mt. Zion, Room of the Last Supper. Enter within the walls of the city and visit the Cardo, Temple Mount (entrance to the mosques not included), Western Wall, Via Dolorosa, The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Oriental Bazaar.

Jerusalem - New City and Bethlehem* |

Visit the Model of Jerusalem during the period of the Second Temple, Yad Vashem Memorial to the Holocaust, Ein Karem and the Church of Visitation, Shrine of the Book at the Israel Museum, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls. Proceed to Bethlehem (subject to security clearance) to visit the Church of the Nativity.

Dead Sea |

Drive to Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls where found. Visit the ancient city of Qumran and drive along the shore of the Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, to Massada, the last stronghold of the Jews after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 A.D. Ascend Mt. Massada by cable car and visit the food storeroom, water irrigation system and Herod’s Palace. Return to Jerusalem.

Negev Desert |

Travel south into the Negev desert; Visit Israel’s Air Force Museum at Hatzerim to view the planes and equipment and to hear the story of this brave fighting force. Visit Sde Boker and see Ben Gurion’s Hut and grave, overlooking the magnificent Zin valley. Stop at Mitzpeh Ramon to gaze into the Ramon Crater, an amazing geological wonder. Drive to Timna to see the copper mines of King Solomon and marvel at the huge multi-coloured rock formations.

Enjoy a free day in Eilat today exploring the Red Sea coastal resort.
OR
Leave Eilat early in the morning, crossing the Arava border and drive through the scenic Jordanian desert. Enjoy a spectacular tour exploring the rose-red city of Petra. Enjoy a short horse ride, and then travel on foot through the awesome ‘SIQ’ valley. Visit the Treasury, and explore hundreds of buildings, tombs, temples, and a 3,000-seat theater from the first-century AD. Stop for lunch, followed by a visit to Moses Spring before leaving Wadi Moussa. Drive to Aqaba for a short city tour, returning to the Arava border and back to Eilat hotel. (Includes Lunch)

Visit the Eilat underwater observatory, built into a coral reef and one of the largest sea aquariums in the world. Drive through the Negev Desert for a camel riding experience and a visit to an authentic Bedouin tent; Learn about the Bedouin hospitality and enjoy a light lunch. Drive back to Tel-Aviv. (Includes Lunch)
