  Iran's fabulous history reaches back to the dawn of time. Visit the main cities of Tehran, Shiraz, Persepolis and Isfahan and their treasure troves of culture and architecture - not to mention friendly people and great food.


ITINERARY  
   
Day 1 Tehran
  Welcome to Iran.  Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel.  The remainder of the day is free to unwind from your travels and begin soaking up the atmosphere of Iran.
   
Day 2 Tehran - Shiraz
  After breakfast begin your discovery of Iran with a tour of some of the highlights of the capital city, Tehran.  The Bastan Museum houses many fine artefacts, and at the National Museum of Iran you can trace the fascinating history of Persia formed through former Turkish, Mongolian and Arabian rulers. 
Following a trip to the Carpet Museum for an insight in the intricacies of the world renowned Persian carpets you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shiraz, known as the city of poets, literature and wine.  Visit the tombs of two of Iran's most renowned poets as well as the stunningly picturesque Nasir ol Molk Mosque before arriving at your hotel.  (B)
   
Day 3 Shiraz  - Persepolis - Isfahan
  Depart via the Quran gate, built in the 9th century with a room over the main arch to house the Quran to protect travellers passing through the arch by blessing them with Islamic protection through the holy book.  45km north of Shiraz is Persepolis, the outstanding ceremonial palace of the Achaemenians.  This UNESCO heritage site was conquered by Alexander the Great and sacked and burnt.
After returning to Shiraz transfer to the airport for your flight to Isfahan. (B)
   
Day 4 Isfahan
  Your day begins with a visit to Naghshe Johan Square, a huge open UNESCO listed heritage square.  Surrounding the square are some outstanding Safavid buildings including the Ali Qapu Palace, Imam Mosque, Sheikh Lotfollah (ladies) mosque and to the north the expansive bazaar.  Continue to Chehel Setoun Palace (inspired by 20 slender wooden columns supporting the entrance pavilion which, when reflected in the waters of the fountain, appear to be 40.  The palace is ornately decorated with wall and ceiling paintings from Safavid times. Day 5 Isfahan - Tehran
  After breakfast continue your exploration of Isfahan with a visit to Jame Mosque, the exquisite Hasht Behesht Garden, then onto the incredible Si-o-Se Pol (thirty-three arches) and Khajoo bridges spanning the Zayanderud River.  The Si-o-Se Pol was completed in 1602 and is a true marvel of ancient engineering and beauty.  The Vank Cathedral with its absolutely stunning frescos is the next experience and a fitting way to end your time in Isfahan prior to being transferred to the airport for your flight to Tehran. Day 6 Tehran
  Free time for some last minute shopping, sightseeing or just relaxing at your hotel prior to your transfer to Imam Khomeini International Airport for your departure flight from Iran (B)
