Self Drive Holiday

Day 1

Welcome to Madrid.  Spend today exploring the incredible cultural and architectural heritage of the capital of Spain from the Gran Via and Castellana, to the famous squares including Plazas de Espana, Puerta del Sol and Puerta de Alcala.  Tonight sample modern Spanish cuisines with a 7-course degustation menu. (D)

Day 2

    Madrid - Cordoba: 400 km
This morning explore the Prado Museum and Art Gallery home of one of the world's finest collections of European art from the 12 to early 19th centuries, including the iconic 'Las Meninas' by Velazquez.   Later in the day drive to Cordoba (B)
Day 3

    Cordoba - Seville: 150 km
Today experience the amazing blend of Muslim, Jewish and christian cultures reigning in Cordoba.  Explore the magnificent Great Mosque and wander through the narrow and beautifully decorated streets of the Jewish Quarter.  Later drive to Seville to join a Flamenco dinner show. (B, D)

Day 4




Day at leisure to explore Seville and immerse yourself in the effervescent atmosphere of the colourful Santa Cruz Quarter. Explore the historic monuments along the Guadalquivir River or you may want to take the opportunity to visit the architectural jewels of La Giralda or Alcazar Castle (on your own). (B)

Day 5

    Seville - Jerez de la Fontera (92 km) - Granada (266 km)
Morning drive to Jerez. The best way to understand the culture of Jerez is visiting its numerous wine cellars including a prearranged visit to Gonzalez Byass winery, home to Tip Pepe Sherry so we have arranged a visit to a local winery and tasting of their Sherry Wine.   Later attend a traditional Andalusian Horse Dance Show (Tue & Thu only, seasonal).  Continue to Granada. Day 6


Explore the extraordinary Alhamnbra and Greneralife.  The exquisite rooms, patios and gardens and intricacy of design feeds the imagination.  The whisper of fresh water from the Alhambra's numerous fountains and ponds create a cool interior microclimate unique to the site. Explore the historic Albaycin quarter and join a spectacular Flamenco show in a cave. (B)

Day 7

    Granada - Toledo (370 km) - Madrid (80 km)
Today head back north to Toledo a city that for centuries prospered with Christians, Arabs and Jews living side by side.  Synagogues, mosques and churches jostle in the narrow streets of Toledo which is characterised by the mixture of artistic styles and cultural legacy.  Spend the afternoon exploring before returning to Madrid. (B)

Departure and car drop off at the airport. (B)
