Andalusia is one of the most attractive areas due to its mild climate, stunning scenery and history and culture ranging from Phoenician, Greek, Romans and Arab over 5 centuries.  The great cities of Seville, Granada and Cordoba are a delight to visitors.
Portugal has a rich artistic and archaeological history, a sample of which can be found in its capital city - Lisbon.
Morocco is a country of contrasts with its Imperial cities, monuments, Kasbahs Medinas and Souks, mountains and deserts.

Day 1
  Madrid - Trujillo - Lisbon

Meet this morning at the Plaza de Oriente.  Drive westbound towards the region of Extremadura, a relaxing drive to Trujillo - hometown of many discoverers of the new world.  Free time to explore its beautiful Plaza Major before continuing along the Alentejo plains via historic sites such as Elvas, Estremoz and Setubal.  Arrive over the impressive 25th April bridge into Lisbon, capital of Portugal.  Overnight in Lisbon.
Optional: night tour to attend a Fado show (typical Portuguese song & music)

Day 2

Morning sightseeing tour of the ancient Olissipo - drive through its main squares and avenues, Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Coach Museum, Monument to the Discoverers, marquis of Pombal Square and Liberty Avenue.  Free time in the afternoon to do what you want: shopping or more sightseeing.  We recommend visiting the Alfama Quarter, the old city situated next to the Castle, with its old building and narrow twisting 'Ruas' full of colour and housing the genuine 'tabernas' where Fado can be experienced.  Overnight Lisbon. (B)

Day 3
  Lisbon - Obidos - Alcobaca - Nazare - Batalha - Fatima

Today head to the beautiful walled town of Obidos with its picturesque streets and the Pousada do Castelo.  Continue to Alcobaca and visit a 12th century church containing the tombs of Pablo and Ines de Castro, followed by a visit to the picturesque fishing village of Nazare.  Weather permitting, continue to the Sitio for a panoramic view of the beach and village.  In the afternoon visit the Batalha Monastery - a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline style, and a UNESCO World Heritage site.  Continue to Fatima for overnight stay. Day 4
  Fatima - Lisbon
    A day at leisure today to explore Fatima - centre of Christian faith and a World Pilgrim Sanctuary.  You may choose to visit the impressive Basilica and Cova da Ira where Virgin Mary appeared; the church containing the tombstones of Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco; or the Chapel of Apparitions.  At the end of the day return to Lisbon through the colorful farming region.  Overnight in Lisbon. Day 5
  Lisbon - Cáceres - Cordoba

Early departure to Cáceres - considered as World Heritage because of the city's blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian renaissance architecture.  Walk through its Plaza Mayor and the Old Town with its famous Medieval Quarter.  After continue to Cordoba, once the capital of the Caliphate.  Dinner and overnight in Cordoba. (B, D)

Day 6
  Cordoba - Seville
    Today visit Cordoba's Mosque and stroll through the narrow winding streets of the Jewish Quarter.  In the afternoon, drive to Seville for dinner & overnight. (B,D)
Day 7

Morning panoramic city tour visiting the exterior of the Cathedral (the 2nd largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome), Santa Cruz quarter (a natural scenario of 'Carmen' as well as precisely where the myth of Don Juan developed), Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de Espana.  Afternoon at leisure.  Dinner & overnight in Seville. Day 8
  Seville - Ronda - Costa Del Sol

This morning drive south passing typical villages along the way.  On arrival in Ronda free time to explore this town of Celtic origin and view the valley and mountain range.  In the afternoon continue to the Costa del Sol for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

  Costa Del Sol

Day at leisure for you to relax on the wonderful beaches of the Costa del Sol and surrounding areas. (B, D)

Day 10
  Costa Del Sol - Tarifa - Tangier - Rabat - Casablanca

Morning drive along the picturesque tourist route via internationally renowned places such as Marbella and Puerto Banus to Tarifa.  Here a ferry boat will be used for a short crossing of the strait of Gibraltar to Tangier in Africa.  After disembarkation and customs continue via Larache to Rabat, diplomatic and administrative capital and official residence of King Mohamed VI of Morocco.  Take a city tour visiting the most important sights: see the Royal Palace from the outside, Mohamed V Mausoleum, the unfinished Hassan Tower (Almohade architecture).  Later continue to Casablanca for dinner & overnight stay. (B, D)

Day 11
  Casablanca - Marrakech
    This morning your city tour will include visits to Anfa Boulevard, nations Square, residential areas and a view from the outside of the Hassan II Grand Mosque.  Continue your exploration of Morocco by travelling to Marrakech - the capital of the south - located within an extensive oasis between the Atlas Mountains and the pre-desert area.  On arrival take a city sightseeing tour which includes the Koutoubia Tower, Saadians Tombs and Bay Palace.  Walk round the medina, souks and the magic Jma El Fna Square which is packed with fortune tellers, snake tamers, acrobats and dancers; all making the centre of the city an open air theatre that required audience participation!  Dinner and overnight in Marrakech. Day 12
  Marrakech - Meknes - Fez

Today head to Meknes - an old walled imperial city - located in the heart of the Mid Atlas mountains.  Take a panoramic tour of the city visiting the great Bab Al Mansour Gate (Morocco's most beautiful Gate and the most well-known monument in the city).  Continue to Fez, another Imperial City.  Dinner & overnight in Fez. Day 13

Take a morning city tour of the most ancient of the Imperial Cities visiting the 7 gates of the Royal Palace, Jewish Quarters or Mellah (Gate of Bab Bou Jelous) and take a walking tour of the Medina (old city) - a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  Afternoon is at leisure.  Dinner & Overnight in Fez. Day 14
  Fez - Tangier - Tarifa - Costa Del Sol
    This morning depart to Tangier.  Transfer to the pier to board the ferry to return across the straight of Gibraltar back to Spain.  Drive towards the Costa del Sol for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

  Costa Del Sol

Day at leisure to explore Costa del Sol and the surrounding areas including the beaches and shops. (B, D)

Day 16

Costa Del Sol - Granada


This morning depart towards the city of Granada with its amazing architecture.  This was the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up to 1492.  Visit the world famous Alhambra complex and Generalife Gardens - inspiration for several authors, with its sound and sights, such as the "Tales of  the Alhambra" by W. Irving.  Afternoon at leisure.  Dinner & overnight in Granada. (B, D)

Day 17
  Granada - Toledo - Madrid
    Today drive northward to the impressive Imperial City of Toledo, a World Heritage City where Christians, Moors and Jews have lived together for centuries.   Take a short guided tour of this historical old town and visit a famous "Damasquinado" (gold and silver inlaying in iron) factory.  Arrive in Madrid late afternoon. (B)
