  Discover an original facet of Portugal, full of human warmth, cultural and culinary delights.  Driving through the most beautiful regions of Portugal unveils Castles, Convents and Monasteries and the countryside with fabulous scenery on this self drive programme.

Day 1

Welcome to Lisbon - a legendary city with over 20 centuries of history.  Tonight enjoy a Fado dinner show. (D)
Day 2
  Lisbon - Sintra - Cascais - Oueluz (50 km)

  The small city of Sintra lies between Lisbon and the Atlantic on a promontory of land between two gorges on the north side of the well-wooded Serra de Sintra. With its beautiful setting and equable climate it was an early choice as the summer seat of the Portuguese royal family.  Early in 1996 UNESCO included Sintra in its list of world cultural heritage sites.  One of Portugal´s prettiest coastal towns, Cascais was a sleepy fishing village until King Luís I´s Royal Court arrived in 1870, bringing glamour which still survives today.
Continue to the beautiful coastal town of Cascais, a sleepy fishing village which welcomed the glamour brought by King Luis 1 and his Royal Court. (B)
Day 3
  Oueluz - Obidos (105 km)

  The town of Óbidos is located on a hill and is still encircled by a fortified wall. The well-preserved medieval look of its streets, squares, walls and its massive castle have turned the picturesque village into a preferred tourist attraction in Portugal. When visiting, it is compulsory to try the local cherry liquor known as ginjinha.  (B)
Day 4
  Obidos - Nazare/Batalha - Fatima (100 km)

  Admire the beautiful gothic cathedrals of Nazare and Batalha and experience the relaxed atmosphere of lunch in a typical Portuguese village.  Continue to Fatima.  Named after Our Lady of Fatima, the city is a site of pilgrimage and hides many religious treasures. (B)
Day 5
  Fatima - Tomar - Coimbra (125 km)

  Time to see Tomar monastery. The Convent of the Order of Christ is a religious building and Roman Catholic building in Tomar, Portugal, originally a Templar stronghold built in the 12th century.  The Convent of Christ of Tomar is one of Portugal's most important historical and artistic monuments and has been in the World Heritage list of UNESCO since 1983.  Continue to the university city of Coimbra.  Long ago, this site was occupied by the Celts, but the process of Romanisation brought a great cultural transformation to this region.  It is now known as a university town. (B)
Day 6
  Coimbra - Porto (115 km)

  Today explore the wine city of Porto.  Visit the beautiful and mysterious lady, one of the most ancient cities of Europe with plenty of historic and cultural memories. A unique and unforgettable tour through the "Bairro da Sé", the heart of ancient PORTO of medieval roots. We end this unforgettable tour at a famous wine cellar in the historical heart of VILA NOVA DE GAIA in an atmosphere that will take you in a journey to the past. (B)
Day 7
  Douro Valley wine region



  To talk about the Douro is not only to talk about a river or a region. It is much more than that... it is to talk about all its history and its peoples, which make it so special.  The most ancient demarcated wine region in the world is also a landscape of rare beauty and of an unquestionable historical importance. As such, it was declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001. (B)
Day 8

  Drop your car off at Porto Airport. (B)
