FERRIES
Ancient Kingdoms use modern fast ferries or hydrofoils for Island Hopping. If you want a more economical itinerary we can include regular ferries which take longer between islands. In our Aegean Splendours & Highlights of the Cyclades Holidays, regular ferries are used in Budget Class.
In all cases, booking ferry connections before you depart from New Zealand is strongly recommended. With close links to our Greek representative, our local agents provide a friendly source of information and assistance on the islands. If any ferry connections are disrupted the next best service will be used. |

FLIGHTS
Olympic Airways and Aegean Airways operate regular flights to Mykonos, Santorini, Crete, Rhodes and Paros. Pre-booking is recommended and in peak periods essential.
WINTER ON THE GREEK ISLANDS
While Athens can be an all year destination, the best time to travel to the islands is between April & September. Travel outside this main season can be difficult. Not only can ferries be disrupted by unsettled weather, many hotels, restaurants and tavernas only open in April and close up again from mid October onwards. If in doubt please ask Ancient Kingdoms for advice. Additionally from early October some hotel facilities including central air conditioning may not be operational.
