You'll discover its beauty as you take easy walks along the Vikos George, listening to the rumble of the Voidamatis River and admiring impressive Mt Timfi.  Conclude your holiday falling under the charm of the elegant island of Corfu before making your way back to Athens.

Day 1
  Athens arrival
    Welcome to Greece.  On arrival in Athens you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.  This evening join a welcome dinner and meet your fellow travel companions.  (D)
           
   
Day 2
  Athens sightseeing
    Spend the day exploring Athens.  The highlights include the Panathenaic stadium, Temple of Zeus, Parliament Buildings and the most famous of all Greek sights, the Parthenon atop the Acropolis.  After a visit to the Acropolis Museum, wander through the Plaka area, the picturesque old town of Athens, to uncover the best of the many small shops, cafes and restaurants.  Later, continue to the town of Kalambaka, home to the impressive byzantine monasteries of Meteora. Day 3
  Meteora
    Today discover the Meteora region, one of the most extraordinary sites in Greece.  Visit the beautiful Eastern Orthodox Churches and marvel at the mystical monasteries perched on enormous sandstone rocks.  Continue on the scenic roads to the lush Zagori area.  Zagori is one of the most strictly protected areas in Greece due to its wild and unspoilt nature and its distinctive traditional architecture.  The whole area is a national Park and the Vikos-Aoös Geopark is part of UNESCO's Global Geopark Network. Day 4
  Zagori
    This morning join your expert mountain guide and being your active exploration of this stunning region.  Start your trek from Vradeto village situated 1,300 metres above sea level.  The route will take you through the lower alpine zone to unveil the most spectacular view of the Vikos Canyon - the deepest canyon in the world.  Continue with a downhill hike through the famous and well preserved Scala Vradetou cobbled stone footpath) to Kapesovo village where you will visit the most important stone bridges of the area - the Kokkoros and Plakidas bridges. In the afternoon visit the monastery of Spiliotissa on the banks of the Voidomatis River. (B,D)
     
Day 5
  Zagorochoria villages
   

This morning set off with your mountain guide for a short scenic hike to Mikro Papigo, one of the best-kept traditional stone villages in Greece.  The hike will take you through the extraordinary coloured Bistyries caves which were inhabited in Neolithic times.  Continue to the Rogovos pools and to the Red Rock - a spectacular view point overlooking Vikos Canyon and Voidomatis springs.  In the afternoon visit the Monastery of Spiliotissa on the banks of the Voidomatis River. Day 6
  Zagori - Corfu
    This morning visit the lake side city of Ioannina and the islet of Ali Pasha.  Discover the fascinating history of the region at the monastery of Agios Panteleimon.  Later continue to Igoumenitsa to catch the local ferry to the Island of Corfu. (B)
     
Day 7
  Corfu
    Corfu is an island that the Venetians, English, French and Austrians have left their mark on - an island of European Aristocracy. Explore this luxurious period in the history of Corfu starting at the Achilion Palace with its unique gardens, built by Princess Sissy of Austria and then inhabited by Kaiser of Germany. Continue to Kanoni and see the famous Mouse Island, before a visit to the Mon Repo's summer Palace and it's unique gardens. Explore the Old town and the Liston (Golden List), the street built to resemble the Rue de Rivoli in Paris. (B)
     
Day 8
  Corfu - Delphi
    This morning embark on a ferry back to the mainland and head towards Delphi. On the way you will see the charming towns of Nafpaktos with its Venetian fortress, and Galaxidi, a seaside village graced with narrow cobblestone streets, handsome stone mansions and two small harbours. Continue to Delphi/ Arachova for overnight. (B)
     
Day 9
  Delphi - Athens
    Today visit the impressive site of Delphi, located on the slopes of Mount Parnassus. Delphi is the home of the legendary oracle, the most revered site of ancient Greece, once considered to be the navel of the world. Visit the Temple of Apollo dating back to the 4th century B.C. , and climb even higher on to the ancient stadium, where every four years athletes competed in the Pythian Games - a precursor to the modern Olympic Games.  Later return to Athens before joining your travel companions for a farewell dinner.   Athens departure
    Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)

Hikes






 

The hikes on days 4 & 5 are EASY to MODERATE level of difficulty (covering a distance of about 8 km over 4 hours) and are led  by a local  mountain expert who will highlight all the beauties of the region. These hikes are designed to be enjoyable even by someone who is not an experienced hiker but has a some level of fitness.

Bear in mind that there is a lot of flexibility to make the hikes shorter (or longer if desired) depending on the level of fitness of the group. Of course, if someone does not want to participate in the hikes, there is always the option to spend time in the incredibly beautiful villages.
