ITINERARY
 
Day 1

Rome - Pompeii - Sorrento (280 km)
   

Early morning departure from Rome for Naples, where a short panoramic tour is featured. Then on to Pompeii, the famous Roman city destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 a.D. Lunch in a local restaurant, and afterwards, visit of the excavations. Proceed to your hotel in Sorrento. Dinner and  overnight. (L,D)

     
Day 2

Capri Excursion (optional Blue Grotto)
   

After breakfast, depart to Capri by ferry and enjoy breathtaking views of the most famous coastline in Italy. Arrival in Capri and guided tour of the island by minibus. Stop in Anacapri for a short visit and continue to Capri. Lunch at local restaurant. Time at leisure for shopping around Capri's boutiques or having a coffee in a café on Piazza Umberto 1 or joining an optional excursion to the Blue Grotto (€) to admire the stunning sea. Ferry back and return to your hotel. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)


   
Day 3
  Sorrento - Amalfi (75 km)
   

Breakfast at hotel. About noon transfer to Amalfi.  You will have a whole afternoon at leisure in Amalfi to visit the area on your own, to relax by the Mediterranean Sea or to shopping. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B,D)  

     
Day 4
  Amalfi
   

Breakfast at hotel. Today you'll enjoy an entire day at leisure to explore the area. Dinner and overnight at hotel. (B,D)

     
Day 5
  Amalfi - Florence (512 km)
   

Breakfast. Pick up at hotel for your transfer to railway station for catching your direct train to Florence and head north through the gentle Umbrian hills that have inspired saints, artists and admirers of beauty. Your route continues through the Tuscan countryside to Florence, the "Cradle of the Renaissance". Upon arrival in Florence Santa Maria Novella Station, transfer on your own to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure for a first visit of the city on your own. Overnight. (B)

     
Day 6
  Uffizi Gallery Visit & optional Accademia Gallery Visit
   

After breakfast you'll have the possibility to visit the Accademia gallery (optional €). In the afternoon your walking tour will explore the most fascinating and interesting places of Florence:  Palazzo Vecchio and Loggia dei Lanzi, Republica square, the Cathedral with the Brunelleschi's Dome, the Baptistery with its famous Gates of Paradise. At the end of the walking you will enter the Uffizi Gallery (Monday closed) to visit its beautiful collections of painting from the Italian Renaissance. The tour will ends on the Uffizi's terrace to admire the beautiful view on the Ponte Vecchio and the typical goldsmiths' shops. Overnight. (B)

     
Day 7
  Siena - San Gimignano - Chianti Region excursion (120 km)
   

Breakfast at hotel. Reach the arranged meeting point for a full day regular tour driving south from Florence and crossing the beautiful Hills of Chianti. You will first reach San Gimignano, a picturesque, fascinating medieval town declared a World heritage Site by UNESCO and famous for its white wine, the world renowned Vernaccia. The visit is free for independent sightseeing. You will have time to wind your way through the narrow streets and to admire the relaxing landscape surrounding the village. Your day will continue to Siena, a medieval town with the suggestive Piazza del Campo famous for the Palio, Torre del Mangia. You will continue on the direction of the Duomo, one of the most fascinating Italian churches in Gothic style: you will visit its interior and the relative Piccolomini Bookshop. In the afternoon the tour will move to the Chianti area with its impressive picture-postcard landscape and, at a famous wine estate, you will taste the best Chianti red wine along with home-made snacks. The tour will ends in front of Santa Maria Novella Station in Florence. Back to hotel on your own and overnight. (B,L)

     
Day 8
  Florence - Cinque Terre - Florence (220 km)
   

After breakfast, reach the arranged meeting point for a whole day dedicated to the discovery of one of the most enchanting landscapes in the world. Five (cinque) villages, suspended between sea and land listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Your visit will begin at daybreak, with arrival at La Spezia, where your will take a train to Riomaggiore. The village, dating from the early thirteenth century, is known for its historic character and its wine. You will then reach Manarola Your journey will continue to Monterosso, an ancient fishing village considered "the pearl of the Cinque Terre", where you will be overcome by its enchanting beaches and lush vegetation that surround the little town. Here you will have free time to plunge into the crystal sea and to sunbathe, before taking the boat to Vernazza, a seaside town surrounding a little natural port. Lunch is included en route. In addition to comfortable clothes, we recommend to have with you a swim wear and a hat to protect you against the sun. The tour will ends in front of Santa Maria Novella Station in Florence. Back to hotel on your own and overnight. (B,L)

     
Day 9
  Florence - Rome (280 km)
   

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer on your own to Santa Maria Novella Station to catch the train to Rome. End of services. (B)
