Vienna and the Imperial Danube




A marvellous combination of history, tradition and culture is there to be experienced on this 8 day Danube cruise.  Starting and ending in the historic imperial city of Vienna, you will also get the opportunity to visit the enigmatic cities of Bratislava and Budapest.  Included in this itinerary is the opportunity to view horse shows and folklore evenings and start to gain an understanding of this unique culture.

Day 1   VIENNA


Embarkation at 6.00 pm in Vienna.  Welcome cocktail, crew presentation.  Dinner on board and free time or guided tour of Vienna by night.  Cruise departure around midnight towards Melk.

Day 2   MELK
    Breakfast on board.  Arrival early in the morning.  Excursion of the Abbaye of Melk. Return onboard for lunch and cruise departure towards Dürnstein, through the beautiful Wachau. Arrival early afternoon in Dürnstein, which will be visited with your hostess.  Return on board in the mid afternoon and continuation of cruise to Bratislava.  Dinner on board.

After breakfast, excursion of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia.  The baroque palaces and the beautiful shaded squares make the charm of Bratislava, which Marie-Theresa of Austria used to hold dear.  Return on board for lunch and cruise departure towards Kalocsa, in Hungary. Afternoon cruise, dinner on board followed by an evening of entertainment.


Breakfast on board and excursion to the Puzsta, including a horse show.  Also named the Great Valley, this huge grassland used to be considered in the 19th century as the Wild West of HungaryReturn on board for lunch and cruise departure towards Budapest, the "Pearl of Danube".  Dinner on board.


Breakfast on board. Guided tour of Budapest.  Discover haughty Buda with its winding alleyways, its Baroque buildings and its Royal Palace. And bustling Pest, which offers a proud mixture of architectural styles.  Return on board for lunch.  Free afternoon.  After dinner on board, free evening or folklore show in Budapest.  Departure of the boat around midnight.



Early morning arrival into Esztergom. Free visit of Esztergom, first capital of Hungary under the Arpad dynasty.  The city has conserved its value.  With the neo-classical basilica or the former Royal Palace, Esztergom is a city which offers wonderful architectures.  Lunch on board and afternoon of cruising towards Vienna.  Gala dinner and evening.

Day 7   VIENNA

Ship arrival early morning.  After breakfast guided visit of Vienna and Schönbrunn Castle. Return on board for lunch.  Guided tour of Hofburg: the Habsbourg palace.  Return on board for dinner.  In the evening, possibility to attend a concert of Viennese music (optional and subject to availability - paid on board). 

Day 8   VIENNA

Breakfast and disembarkation.

Please note Croisi cruises are bilingual with on board commentaries in both French & English. Sightseeing tours are guaranteed in English with either bilingual guides or audiphones.
