A voyage of discovery through Cote Du Rhone, Beaujolais wine, gastronomy regions and the ancient cities of the Rhone Valley.  Discover the wild Camargue and the unspoilt gorges of the Ardeche.  Explore Avignon the city of Popes and the medieval city of Viviers, Vienne and its archaeological treasures; Lyon and Beaune's famous hospices, whilst experiencing the cuisine, wines and atmosphere that has evoked masterpieces from the likes of Van Gogh.

Itinerary
   
     
Day 1   CHALON SUR SAÔNE (or LYON)

 

Boarding around 6.30 pm, presentation of the crew and welcome cocktail. First dinner aboard the boat. The boat will leave Chalon sur Saône in the direction of Macon.
(Option for a transfer from Lyon to Chalon - not included in the cruise price)

     
Day 2   MACON – BEAUJOLAIS VINEYARDS – LYONS
   

After breakfast on board, you will have the chance to take a walk in the old town of Macon. At around 11.00 am the boat will leave Macon and will stop after lunch in Montmerle. coach tour of the Beaujolais vineyards, followed by a visit to the Hameau du Vin, a wine museum which is unique in Europe. Back to the boat for dinner. Sail to Lyon. Cruise to discover Lyon by night, with the illuminations in the old quarters of Lyon, a unique spectacle. Overnight stopover.

     
Day 3   LYONS – TAIN L'HERMITAGE – VALLEY OF THE CÔTES DU RHÔNE
   

The morning will start with an excursion through Lyons. You will discover the second largest city in France admirably situated at the confluence of the Rhone and the Saône. Lunch on board. Departure for Tain l'Hermitage where you will arrive in the evening. Overnight stopover.

     
Day 4   TAIN L'HERMITAGE – THE ARDECHE GORGE – AVIGNON
   

Departure of the boat early in the morning, passing close to Valence, Montélimar and Viviers. After lunch, excursion to the Ardèche Gorge. Here, the Ardèche has eroded the cliff-face to create a grandiose natural arch. The itinerary follows the famous Route des Gorges where you can explore the harmonious meandering of the river. Arrival at the end of the evening. Dinner on board. The boat will head for Avignon.

     
Day 5   AVIGNON – ARLES
   

After breakfast, guided tour of the Palais des Papes, a veritable citadel perched on a rocky pinnacle, surrounded by imposing ramparts. Back to the boat for lunch.  Departure for Arles. Arrival during the afternoon, free time in the old town of Arles. Dinner on board. Overnight stopover.

     
Day 6   ARLES – THE CAMARGUE – MARTIGUES

 

Today, excursion in the Camargue. An immense exceptional plain where sea, wetlands and pools are inhabited by an extraordinary variety of water fowl. Tour of the delightful village of Saintes-Maries de la Mer, famous for its religious gypsy gatherings. Back aboard the boat for Port Saint-Louis for lunch. Continuation of the cruise via the Canal de Fos which runs alongside the Mediterranean towards Martigues. Dinner and gala evening. Overnight stopover.

     
Day 7   MARTIGUES (or LYON)
   

Disembarkation after breakfast in Martigues at 9.00 am.  End of our journey.
(optional transfer Martigues - Lyon not included in cruise price).

Please note Croisi cruises are bilingual with on board commentaries in both French & English. Sightseeing tours are guaranteed in English with either bilingual guides or audiphones.
