Day 1

We board in Frankfurt between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm and settle into our cabins. We are introduced to the crew over a welcome cocktail. We have dinner on board this evening and moor for the night.

We have buffet breakfast on board this morning before setting off by coach on our optional guided tour of Frankfurt. A bustling business city and major trading centre, Frankfurt's eclectic mix of ancient and modern astonishes and delights visitors. We return on board and begin our cruise, first along the Main and then the Rhine. We have lunch on board and continue our cruise to Mainz, where we arrive around 4.00pm. We have an optional guided visit of the town and the Gutenberg Museum. Capital of the Rhine Palatinate, Mainz was founded more than 2000 years ago by the Romans. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the top architects and sculptors created the basic shape of the town, with fine palaces and churches. Here we have the chance to admire the magnificent historic houses which have been outstandingly well-restored, before we visit the Gutenberg Museum (closed on Mondays). In this world famous museum of book printing, we see many examples of works from the 16th to the 19th centuries, several printing presses and incunabula, and also a copy of the Gutenberg Bible, the oldest printed book in the world. The museum also gives us a glimpse into how working conditions and printing techniques have evolved over the centuries. We return on board for dinner, after which we have an evening of entertainment on board. We moor for the night.

We have buffet breakfast on board this morning and continue our cruise to Andernach, navigating along the prettiest part of the Romantic Rhine, which is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here in the valley of the Upper Rhine between Rüdesheim and Koblenz, we see huge fortified castle after castle located along the river banks. Inside these noble castle walls, there are legends galore. This is a truly delightful area in the heart of Europe that captivates visitors from all over the world. We pass Koblenz and the famous "Deutsches Eck" (German Corner) before we finally draw alongside Andernach during the afternoon. We have a walk through the old town of Andernach escorted by our on-board hostess. Tonight we have dinner on board and an evening of entertainment. We moor for the night.

We have buffet breakfast on board as we spend the morning cruising to Braubach. During our cruise, we have the magnificent landscapes of the Romantic Rhine as a backdrop. We have lunch on board and arrive in Braubach, where we set off by coach on an optional excursion to visit Marksburg Castle. This 12th century castle is the only Rhine castle never to have been destroyed and is truly one of the highlights of our cruise, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Several rooms have been carefully preserved, such as the kitchen, the knights' room, the chapel, and so on. We have some free time before returning on board for dinner. Afterwards, we are entertained on board by our crew. We moor for the night.

We set off very early this morning and cruise to Bacharach, having breakfast on board. Shortly after breakfast, we arrive in Bacharach and set off on our optional excursion to visit the village. Here we have a discovery tour of this charming little village adorned with pretty half-timbered buildings. After the visit, our guides invite us to have a drink to toast friendship before we have some free time. During our time in Bacharach, the ship continues its journey to Wiesbaden, where we join it again for lunch. Wiesbaden is the elegant and attractive capital of the federal state of Hesse, exceptionally charming and one of the oldest and most noble spa towns in Germany. We have an optional visit of Wiesbaden. We return on board for dinner. Tonight we have our Gala Dinner on board, followed by an evening of music and dancing. We moor for the night.

We leave Wiesbaden very early this morning and cruise to Frankfurt. After buffet breakfast on board we disembark at 9.00am in Frankfurt. End of our journey.
