 Charms of Holland and the Rhine



 Let yourselves fall under the spell of the beautiful Northern Europe towns and cities of Amsterdam, Kinderdijk with its windmills, Cologne, Koblenz, Rudesheim, Boppard and Dusseldorf, while sailing along the spectacular Rhine through the UNESCO World Heritage Rhine Valley.  One of the highlights of this magical cruise will be passing the legendary Lorelei Rock and the Rhine vineyards.

Day 1


Board in Amsterdam between 5 pm and 6pm and settle into our cabins. You are introduced to the crew over a welcome cocktail. Dinner on board is followed by a tour of the old town of Amsterdam by river boat. On our return, set sail through the night, heading for Kinderdijk.

Day 2



Arrive in Kinderdijk early this morning and have buffet breakfast on board. Excursion to visit the windmills of Kinderdijk. Kinderdijk has the largest concentration of windmills in the world together in the same place, which is one of the reasons why the windmills have been listed as a World Heritage Site since 1997. Return on board and continue cruise, heading for Nijmegen. Depending on the tide, will head for the port of Rotterdam, sailing past Europe's largest port before seeing the towns of Oude Maas and Spijkenisse. Dinner on board is followed by an evening's entertainment as you continue your cruise. We arrive in Nijmegen during the night.

Day 3



After buffet breakfast on board this morning, have free time for independent exploration or join the visit to the Kröller Müller Museum: set in the Hoge Veluwe National Park, the museum has a fine collection of paintings and sculptures mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries. A large collection of Van Gogh's works is displayed alongside works by Picasso and the Impressionists. Return for lunch onboard for lunch and continue on your cruise towards Cologne. Have a relaxing afternoon on board, passing many towns and cities, including the fortified Hanseatic town of Wesel; Duisburg, with Europe's largest inland harbour; Krefeld, known as the "Velvet and Silk City" and many others. Dinner on board is followed by an evening of dancing as we continue our cruise through the night.

Day 4



Arrive early morning in Cologne and have buffet breakfast on board before your guided visit of Cologne. Capital of the Rhine region, Cologne is located between the "seven mountains" (Siebengenbirge) and the Eifel and has been a vibrant city for over 2000 years. The magnificent Gothic cathedral, with its famous twin spires, dominates the town in a quite unique fashion. Visit the old town, the Town Hall, Jewish quarter, the Romanesque Great St Martin Church and the fish market. Return for lunch and spend the afternoon cruising in the direction of Koblenz. Cruise past the city of Bonn, Beethoven's birthplace, Königswinter and Drachenburg Castle and Rolandsbogen Castle at Remagen. Dinner as you cruise and arrive in Koblenz during the evening. Situated at the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle rivers, Koblenz is a city over 2000 years old and has retained many of its ancient monuments and historic buildings. The evening is free as you moor for the night.

Day 5 KOBLENZ – The romantic valley of the Rhine - RÜDESHEIM - BOPPARD

Set sail again this morning over breakfast, continuing our journey towards Rüdesheim. The journey along the river through the romantic Rhine Valley has been listed by UNESCO as part of World Heritage since 2002. All along the banks of the river,  see fortified castle after castle and medieval village after medieval village, set amidst the renowned Rhine vineyards – arguably the most beautiful in all Germany. Pass the legendary Lorelei Rock, named after a beautiful young maiden who, according to German legend, threw herself into the river in despair over a faithless lover and was transformed into a siren. Legend has it that over the years, her hypnotic song has lured many a sailor to his death. Have lunch as you cruise and arrive in Rüdesheim early afternoon.  Free time to wander or join the excursion where you set off by tourist train, enjoy some tasting of the famous wines of the region and have a guided tour of the Museum of Mechanical Music, housing one of the largest collections of mechanical musical instruments. Return mid-afternoon and continue your cruise. After dinner on board, arrive in Boppard. An old Imperial town, there is much to see in Boppard which bears testimony to its past. After dinner, the evening is free, so why not join your on-board hostess on a guided visit of the town.


An early start to your cruise today as you continue our journey, Breakfast and lunch are taken on board and the morning is spent either relaxing on board or joining in the entertainment and activities. Shortly after lunch, arrive in Düsseldorf, a town of culture on the banks of the Rhine renowned for its fashion and trade fairs. Take a guided visit on foot of Düsseldorf. The capital of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia was originally situated on just one bank of the Rhine. As it became an economic centre of power in the region, the town expanded to straddle both banks of the river. This lively and vibrant town – modern, elegant, cosmopolitan and typical of the region welcomes visitors with open arms. Discover the upmarket Königsallee with its many shops, the "Altstadt" or Old Town district where in the evening and at weekends it is known as the "longest bar in the world" because of the incredible number of bars inviting visitors to try the beers of the town. Return for dinner and an evening of entertainment.


Sail from Düsseldorf during the night as you sleep. Breakfast and lunch are again taken on board as you spend the morning gently cruising towards Amsterdam, arrive in the early afternoon. Guided visit of Amsterdam, a truly charming city, where we can admire some of the most wonderful architectural masterpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries. Amsterdam is also known as the "Venice of the North", thanks to its network of canals, and we have the opportunity to learn a little about the true character of the town, an eclectic and pleasurable mix of ancient and modern. Return to the boat for the Gala dinner and an evening of entertainment. Moor for the night in Amsterdam.


After breakfast on board, disembark around 9 am. End of CroisiEurope's services.
