Trincomalee & East Coast
This three night detour will allow you to discover a lesser known part of Sri lanka - the East Coast.  Despite offering some of the island's best beaches, tourism here is still in its infancy.
The town of Trincomalee (commonly known as 'Trinco') has played an important role in Sri Lankan history.
The town itself has plenty to offer - you can visit the Fort as well as the famed Koneswaram temple.  The beaches here are attractive - offering shallow waters and much calmer seas than beaches in the west.  The weather in Trincomalee is also excellent with the southern beaches are affected by the south west monsoons.
