Mandalay
Saturday




Welcome to Myanmar. Arrival transfer to your hotel. This afternoon begin our exploration with a visit to Mahamuni Pagoda, home to one of the country's most revered Buddha images, entirely covered with Gold Leaf. Continue through traditional workshops where wood carvings, Kalaga tapestries and Gold Leaf are crafted using ancestral techniques. End your tour with magnificent views of the city and the Irrawaddy River from the top of Mandalay Hill.

   
Day 2
Mandalay
Sunday



Today visit the former capital of Sagaing, Myanmar's major religious centre. Visit Pagodas and a typical Burmese market. Later return to Mandalay for a visit of the Kuthodow Pagoda known as the "World's Biggest Book" for its 729 marble stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures. Later admire the sunset at the 200 years old U Bein teak bridge at Amarapura. (B)

   
Day 3 Mandalay - Bagan
Monday



Today take a local ferry from Mandalay to Bagan. During the cruise, observe life along the riverbank, stop at local villages or join a discussion on Myanmar Culture and Tradition. Lunch is served on board. (B,L)

Day 4 Bagan
Tuesday



Early morning optional Hot Air Balloon flight.
Today experience the amazing atmosphere of Bagan; here thousands of temples, stupas, pagodas and monasteries from the 11th-13th centuries have been preserved. Visit this impressive archaeological site as well as the colourful Nyaung Oo Market and a traditional lacquerware workshop. (B)

Day at leisure in Bagan to explore further at your own pace. (B)

   
Day 6

Bagan - Heho - Nyaung Shwe - Red Mountain - Inle Lake

Thursday



This morning fly to Heho. Upon arrival take a scenic drive to Nyaung Swe, the gateway village to Inle Lake, en-route visiting local markets and monasteries. Taste local wines at Red Mountain Winery. Later, board a motorboat and cruise on the lake to discover stilt villages and water gardens. A visit to Phaung Daew Oo Pagoda, the lake's main sanctuary is included. (B)

Inle Lake

Friday


Today explore the life of villages around the lake, visit local markets, taste traditional snacks, see traditional wooden boats, stop at a weaving village or visit a cheroot factory – where typical Burmese cigars are made by hand. (B)

   

Day 8

Inle Lake - Heho - Yangon

Saturday



This morning transfer to Heho and fly to Yangon. Upon arrival stroll through the famous Bogyoke Market. Later, visit the 70 metre long reclining Buddha at Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda, the glittering Karaweik Barge at Kadawgyi Central Park and the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda, the most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Yangon                                            

Sunday

Today departure transfer to the airport in time for your onward flight. (B)
