There is an option to extend your holiday with a beach stay, or a side trip to Golden Rock 

Day 1

Welcome to Myanmar.  Arrival transfer to your hotel where you will meet your fellow travellers.  Depart for an orientation tour of Myanmar's capital followed by a welcome dinner. (D)
Day 2

Yangon - Heho - Inle Lake
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Heho.  Drive to Nyaung Shwe, gateway to Inle Lake with a stop en route to visit rural workshops specialising in the production of Shan paper and unique handcrafted umbrellas.  Then take a boat ride to your hotel on Inle Lake.  On the way view floating villages and visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. Day 3

Inle Lake - Indein - Inle Lake
Visit the morning market before heading by boat to the western shore of Inle Lake.  There visit the Pa-Oh village of Indein.  Take a leisurely stroll around the village and visit the Pagoda complex, one of the most important of the region. (B)
Day 4

Inle Lake - Pindaya (90 km)
Morning visit to the village of Khaung Daing, known for its production of soybean cakes and tofu.  Drive to Pindaya, a quiet town on the banks of the serene Botoloke Lake.  Visit the Pindaya caves, a unique site housing thousands of Buddha images.  later visit a local family and learn about the cultivation of tea, the tea leaf salad and other regional delicacies. Day 5

Pindaya - Mandalay (280 km)
Today drive to Mandalay, passing through the beautiful Shan Hills. (B)
Day 6

Morning visit to Mahamuni Pagoda which houses one of the country's most honoured Buddha statues, completely covered in the gold leaves applied by devotees.  Then explore the traditional workshops Mandalay is also famous for.  Visit the jade market and learn about the crafts of wood carving and Kalaga tapestries.  In the afternoon visit the Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the world's largest book and the Shwenandaw Pagoda known for its walls adorned with exquisite woodcarvings.  Before sunset drive to Amarapura to visit Mahagandayon Monastery and see the legendary U Bein Bridge.  Constructed from teak posts, this bridge spans 1.2 km across Taungthaman Lake and is still in daily use after more than two centuries. Day 7

Mandalay - Bagan (240 km)
Morning walk and visit to a local market along the majestic Irrawaddy River.  Then enjoy the beautiful landscape as you drive to Paleik and onto Bagan on the new scenic road.  Welcome to Bagan - home to over 3000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and stupas built between the 11th and 13th centuries and one of the greatest architectural sites in Asia. (B)


Day 8


Optional early morning hot air balloon ride
A full day today to explore the wonders of Bagan, one of the 'must sees' in Asia and home to over 3000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and stupas built between the 11th and 13th centuries.  Visit the vibrant Nyaung Oo Market and Old Bagan: see the Shwezigon Pagoda and the impressive Ananda Temple.  Later view the beautiful Gubyaukgi Temple and board a traditional wooden boat.  Take in the spectacular views of Bagan as you cruise down the Irrawaddy River. (B)

Day 9

Bagan - Yangon
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Yangon.  Depart on a tour of Myanmar's capital city.  Sightseeing includes Kyaukhtatgyi Pagoda with its 70m long reclining Buddha and the legendary Shwedagon Pagoda. Bagan - Ngapali Beach
Fly to Thandwe and transfer to Ngapali Beach. (B)

Ngapali Beach
Explore the surrounding jungle and Phou Asa Mountains by a mix of easy trekking and elephant ride. (B,L)
Day 12

Ngapali Beach - Yangon
Return flight to Yangon. (B)

Transfer to the airport

Golden Rock Extension - 2 days

Day 10

Yangon - Golden Rock (190 km)
Drive to Kyaikhtiyo, home to the spectacular Golden Rock.  Upon arrival in Kin Pun take a public local truck for an exhilarating ride to the top of the mountain. (B)
Day 11

Golden Rock - Bago - Yangon (190 km)
This morning, opportunity to visit Golden Rock again.  Drive to Bago, see the giant Shwe Tha Lyaung Buddha.  Transfer back to Yangon. (B)
