Today is no different and incorporating a river journey into your itinerary is perhaps the most pleasurable way to discover the country, feel its pulse, live its legends and understand its history. This is what this new unique itinerary is all about. Combining private touring in Yangon and Inle Lake with an exclusive four-night cruise from Bagan to Mandalay aboard the Road to Mandalay, this journey is guaranteed to leave you with memories of a lifetime.

Day 1

Welcome to Myanmar. Arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 2

Depart for a walking tour of Yangon to discover the British colonial heritage of the city. Also walk through the vibrant markets of the Indian and Chinese quarters. Later, visit Kyauktawgyi Pagoda  and the Golden Shwedagon Pagoda with its 100 metre high chedi covered with more than 40 tons of gold leaves. (B)

Day 3


Yangon - Bagan
Fly to Bagan, Myanmar's expansive plain of temples. Upon arrival, travel to Nyaung U village where you have chance to learn about the traditional lacquer and wood crafts.  Later depart for an easy bike ride (can be replaced by a vehicle transfer) to the little visited village of Minnanthu. Visit Payathonzu and Lementha Temples and Kyat Kan Cave Monastery, an important meditation retreat. (B)
Day 4

Transfer to your ship, the Road to Mandalay berthed on the Irrawaddy River. After lunch, join the guide and visit the inside of some of the more significant pagodas of Bagan. Later this afternoon, watch the sun setting over a field of glowing pagodas. Dinner and night on board. (B,L,D)

Day 5

Bagan – Cruise
After breakfast, explore some of Bagan's local markets. Mid-morning the Road to Mandalay begins its cruise north towards Mandalay. Bagan will fade in to the distance as you make your way past scenes of typical riverside villages, fishermen and passing boats. Relax on the top deck and watch the fascinating river life glide by or, should you wish, join an on-board lecture detailing the customs, history and culture of the river's inhabitants. The ship moors mid-river for the evening. A casual cocktail party is followed by dinner on board. (B,L,D)

Day 6

Arrive at the village of Shwe Kyet Yet after lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the key sights of Mandalay regarded as the centre of Burmese culture and Buddhist learning. (B,L,D)

Day 7

Mandalay - Mingun - Sagaing - Mandalay
Today, cruise to Mingun to visit the most important sights such as the pretty Hsinbyume Pagoda, the unfinished Mingun Paya and the world's largest bell. Afternoon visit to Sagaing, considered to be the living centre of the Buddhist faith in Myanmar. Sagaing is also famous for its silver and silversmiths who still work in much the same way as their ancestors did. (B,L,D)

Day 8

Mandalay – Heho – Inle Lake
Disembarkation and flight to Heho followed by a drive to Nyaung Shwe, gateway to Inle Lake.  Travel by private motorboat on Inle Lake. See the many floating villages and their gardens, Nga Hpe Chaung Monastery and its jumping cats and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. (B)

Day 9

Inle Lake - Indein - Inle Lake
Morning visit to the lake's market, followed by a boat ride to the Pa-Oh Village of Indein to view a hilltop Buddha and Stupa ruins, not to mention mesmerising views. Later, depart for a walk to Sae Ma village before returning to your hotel. (B)

Day 10

Inle Lake - Heho - Yangon (FLIGHT ICON)
Transfer to Heho Airport and flight to Yangon to connect with your onward flight. (B)
