Day 1
  Vientiane
    Welcome to Laos. Meet, assist and transfer to your hotel.
     
Day 2
  Vientiane
    Sightseeing tour of Laos' capital. Visit Wat Si Saket and the golden Pha That Louang, a masterpiece of Laotian architecture. See also Wat Phra Keo with its superb carved wood panels and Patuxay, a smaller Asian version of the Arc de Triomphe. Later, soak in the atmosphere on the banks of the Mekong at sunset. (B)
     
Day 3
  Vientiane - Vang Vieng
    Today drive to Vang Vieng through some of the most spectacular scenery in Laos. Stop en route to visit Vang Sang cave which shelters high reliefs dating back to the 16th century. Arrive in Vang Vieng, a charming little town located on the banks of the Nam Song River and surrounded by dramatic limestone karsts . Remainder of the day at leisure to explore the city and its stunning environment at your own pace. (B,L)
     
Day 4
 

Vang Vieng - Phonsavanh

    Today drive in one of the most picturesque areas in the country to Phonsavan. Stop en route to visit beautiful local villages. (B,L)

 
Day 5
  Phonsavanh
    This morning, visit the mysterious archaeological site of the Plain of Jars. In the afternoon, visit Muang Khoun, former capital of the Phouan Kingdom which was heavily bombarded by the Americans during the "secret war". (B,L)

 
Day 6
 

Phonsavanh - Luang Prabang

    Morning visit to the local market where tribes of Thai Dam, H'mong and Phuan minorities sell their products each morning. Then drive to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang, stopping en route to visit villages and meet local people. (B,L)
     
Day 7
 

Luang Prabang

    We suggest you rise early this morning and attend the beautiful spectacle of saffron robed monks walking the streets in silent processions, receiving alms from kneeling devotees. After breakfast, visit the splendid town with its French colonial villas and gilded temples.  See Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Visoun. Later, embark on a traditional-style boat and cruise on the Mekong to visit Pak Ou sacred caves, which shelter hundreds of Buddha statuettes. (B)
     
Day 8
 

Pak Ou - Kuang Si

    This morning, visit the Royal Palace, now National Museum and the 1796 Wat Mai - a great example of the graceful Luang Prabang architecture. After lunch at a local restaurant, drive to the beautiful Kuang Si Falls. Time for a refreshing swim before returning to Luang Prabang. (B,L)
         
   
Day 9
  Luang Prabang
    Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. (B)
