Discover the fascinating culture and history of Cambodia. After visiting the current capital Phnom Penh, and its cultural heritage, drive to the towns of Kompong Thom and Kompong Cham. The trip gives then the chance to explore the floating villages along the Tonle Sap Lake and in Siem Reap to admire the ruins of Angkor, before visiting Battambang and driving back to Phnom Penh.

Day 1

Phnom Penh
After your airport welcome travel by private car to your hotel. The rooms are at your disposal from 2 pm. In the afternoon, get to know Phnom Penh's origins with a visit to Wat Phnom. Many monkeys reside here. Round off your day by boarding a boat to watch magnificent sunset on the Mekong River.
Day 2

Phnom Penh
Enjoy a day of history beginning with visit to the National Museum, a superb example of Khmer architecture.  Next visit Tuol Sleng (the genocide museum), a former secondary school which was transformed into a detention centre, and the Killing Fields, Choeng Ek, the burial site for victims of Tuol Sleng.  Back in the city visit the Russian Markets, where you'll find here fabrics, jewels, jewellery, crockery, handicrafts… all kinds of goods.  (B)                                                                  
Day 3


Phnom Penh - Sombor Preikuk - Kompong Thom
Leave Phnom Penh for Kompong Thom, enroute passing a number of villages and visit the temples of Sambor Prei Kuk, which is Angkor's oldest capital.  After lunch, start to visit the pre Angkorian temples to get an ideal introduction to Angkor. Continue to Kompong Thom, arriving in the afternoon.  (B,L)

Day 4


Kompong Thom - Kompong Kleang Floating Village - Siem Reap
Morning departure for Kompong Khleang. Here all the houses are on stilts offering breath-taking views of floodplains, rice fields and water views. Walk through the village meeting the locals and a family who raise crocodiles.  Afterwards, travel by boat to a large lake where Vietnamese people live. Return to the village and have a picnic lunch in a villager's home. In the afternoon, continue on to Siem Reap.  (B,L

Day 5


Angkor Wat - Banteay Srei - Ta Prohm
Depart with your guide to discover the incredible temple of Angkor Wat, a world heritage site with soaring towers and extraordinary bas reliefs. It is one of the most amazing man-made monuments in the world and was erected in the 12th century in honour of Vishnu. In the afternoon, leave for Banteay Srei. This small pink sandstone temple is known as the Citadel of Women. Return via the ancient Ta Prohm Monastery where immense branches have taken root in the stones – hence the Jungle Temple nickname.  (B)

Day 6


Siem Reap - Bang Mealea - Angkor Thom
Morning visit to the isolated jungle Temple of Bang Melea.  In the afternoon, visit Angkor Thom (the Great City) beginning by the south gate and the famous Bayon of the 12th and 13th centuries, dedicated to Buddhism and composed of 54 gigantic towers featuring 216 smiling faces of Avalokitesvara. Next visit the Elephant Terrace and the raised Leper King Terrace. (B)

Day 7


Siem Reap: Horse riding - Roluos
Today take part in a horse ride that will allow you to experience a unique side of Cambodia. Ride through the rice fields and villages and see real Cambodian life. In the afternoon, discover the ancient Roluos Group of temples. Begin your trip with the impressive 9th century temple, Bakong, then Preah Ko and Lolei which now houses a small monastery.  Enjoy a dinner with a mesmeric Apsara dance performance.  (B,D)

Day 8


Siem Reap - Battambang  Rainy season program - August to February 

Transfer to the pier at the Chong Khneas Village for a cruise by private boat on the great Tonle Sap Lake, arriving at Prek Toal at the mouth of the Sangke River. View floating schools and pagodas together with many different fishing methods, fishponds and crocodile farms. Enjoy a picnic lunch on board. Continue your cruise on the Sangke River, discovering the black wood Chheu Khamu Pagoda and Bak Prea, the floating fisherman's village, stilt houses and local vegetation.  (B,L)

Siem Reap - Battambang Dry season program – February to July

Leave Siem Reap by road and travel via Sisophon in Banteay Meanchey province, travelling through rice fields and the Cambodian countryside featuring traditional houses. On the way visit a silk farm for an understanding of the steps involved in making silk the traditional way from raising silkworms to weaving the silk and dyeing it. You'll also meet stone sculptors and watch them at their work.  Lunch in Battambang followed by a tour of the town and visit the market and colonial houses along the river. (B,L)

Day 9


Discover the charming town of Battambang, beginning with a tour by Tuk-Tuk from to see the elegant colonial French-houses along the river. A visit to the provincial museum and a pretty wooden pagoda precedes your arrival at an 11th century temple, Wat EK Phnom. Enroute help a family make rice pancakes and talk with local Cambodians. In the afternoon, travel along the river whose suspended bridges join all the villages together. Climb up to the Prasat Banon Temple which towers over the peak of the hill  and affords great views of the beautiful village countryside scenery, the plains and their pagodas. (B)

Day 10


Battambang - Kompong Luong - Phnom Penh
Morning drive back to Phnom Penh through magnificent scenery. Enroute stop at Kompong Luong to board a traditional boat to watch community life on the lake seeing a real floating village. Continuing down the road to Kompong Chhnang where after a walk through the village you will have lunch at a local restaurant (which is quite basic). Arrive at Phnom Penh at the end of the day and check into your hotel. (B,L)

Day 11


Phnom Penh - Departure
Free until transfer to Phnom Penh airport for your departure flight. Room is at disposal until noon only. END OF SERVICES. (B)
