Day 1
  Welcome to Indonesia.  Meet, assist and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Jakarta - Bogor - Bandung (180 km)

This morning meet your guide and fellow travellers and visit Bogor's Botanical Garden, the largest in Indonesia and famous for its magnificent collection of palms and it orchid house displaying over 3000 varieties.  Later drive to Puncak Pass (1600 m), passing through beautiful scenery of tea plantations, before reaching Bandung for your overnight stay. Day 3

After breakfast depart for a scenic drive through the Lembang Hills to the Tangkuban Perahu Crater.  Leisurely walk along the rim of this 2000 metre wide volcano.  Later continue to Clater Hot Springs where you will have lunch and the opportunity to take a bath in a natural hot pool.  Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure.  (B,L)
Optional afternoon tour to Padasuka village to see a performance of traditional Angklung music.

Day 4

Bandung - Baturaden (120 km)


Today take a scenic drive through Central Java to Baturaden.  Pass through a landscape of teakwood and rubber plantations.  Stop en route to visit Kampung Naga, a beautiful traditional Sundanese village that still lives a step back in time.  Arrive in Baturaden for overnight stay. (B,L)

Day 5

Baturaden - Dieng Plateau - Yogyakarta (280 km)

Morning drive to Wonosobo, and explore the Dieng Plateau, which lies at 2093 m above sea level.  Visit an Hindu temple complex built between the 8th and 9th centuries.  Continue to the Skidang Crater and the beautiful Telaga Warna (coloured lake) which has turquoise hues from bubbling sulphur deposits around its shores.  After lunch at a local restaurant drive to Yogyakarta. Day 6

Today will be a day to remember.  Start with a morning visit to the Keraton (Sultan's Palace) and the traditional javanese silversmiths and batik factories.  After lunch visit Borobudur Temple - one of the greatest ancient architectural wonders of the world.  Borobudur is the largest Buddhist sanctuary in the world and predates Angkor Wat in Cambodia by three centuries!.  Buried under volcanic ash and tropical growth, it was only rediscovered in 1815.  Continue to see Prambanan Temple (another UNESCO World Heritage Site) to view its beautiful carvings. Day 7
Yogyakarta - Bromo (440 km)

Early departure on a scenic train ride to Surabaya.  On arrival continue by road to Bromo area and check in at your hotel. (B, L)

Day 8

Mt Bromo - Ijen (205 km)


Rise early this morning and depart by 4WD to take in one of the most spectacular sights in the world - sun rise over Mount Bromo with the active Mt Semeru in the background.  Later return to your hotel for breakfast and continue your journey to Ijen. (B, L, D)

Day 9

Ijen - Bali (170 km)

Another early rise this morning and a long but exciting day ahead.  Depart by 4WD through villages, coffee and clove plantations and then into one of Jarvas last rainforests.  Depart on a hike to Ijen Crater, along a shady track with spectacular vistas.  The most stunning view is unveiled at the 2883 m summit.  The lake's eerie colour and smoke wafting from bright yellow sulphur deposits create a unique landscape.  Watch miners as they descent into the crater and re-emerge carrying up to 80 kg of ore in bamboo baskets.  Return to the hotel and depart to Banyuwangi to board a ferry to Bali.  Transfer to the Bali hotel of your choice where you will arrive in the evening.  (accommodation in Bali is not included).  (B, L)
